The people who love us end a call warmly. Every product ends it coldly.

02 · Why now

Nothing outside changed. The name came first

This one did not start from a market moment. The name arrived before the concept, and it carries the cadence of the thing you say to someone you actually like. The reason to hold the space open is that the phrase is right, not that a window is closing.

03 · The idea

Put the warmth of a real goodbye where a product ends

Take the care people put into ending a call with someone they love, and put it where a product ends instead. What the product is has not formed yet. The ending is the brief.

04 · Who it’s for

Whoever is holding the thing at the end of it

The person at the bin working out which half is recyclable, or hunting the cancel button a company buried on purpose. Nobody designed that moment for them.

05 · Instead of

Nothing. The ending is left to whoever is holding it

No alternative to displace, because almost nobody designs an ending at all. The cost lands on the council sorting contaminated recycling, on the buyer, or on the person guessing at the bin.

06 · What it would take

A decision about which ending, before any product at all

The repo exists and Next.js is scaffolded, which is close to nothing. What it would take first is choosing one ending to work on, and the discipline to leave the name unspent until that choice is made.

07 · What would prove it wrong

A warm goodbye reads as tacky, or changes nothing

If designing an ending turns sentimental the moment it is built, or if a kinder goodbye moves nobody, then this is a good phrase and not a venture. The test is whether warmth at the end changes what a person does, not how it reads.
